Doi Suthep Temple

Doi Suthep Temple remains an important sight that first time visitors to Chiang Mai shouldn’t miss. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. This is Chiang Mai’s most important and most visible landmark. According to legend, holy relics discovered during the reign of King Kuena (1355-1385) were places in howdah on the back of a white elephant, which carried then to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, then if dropped dead due to fatigue from the 16 century and was expanded or restore several times later. A flight of 306 steps, bordered by a NAGA balustrade, lead up from the parking area to the temple, which has beautiful decorated buildings and a Lanna – style chedi covered with engraved gold plates, flanked by four ornamental umbrellas.

Itinerary:

Pick up from Chiang Mai hotel at 08.00 am.
Drive approximately 1.20 hour to the north of Chiang Mai city.
Arrive at the Elephant and Change your outfit into the mahout’s outfit (Karen Shirt)
Learn about elephants in Thailand at the Elephant Culture Museum, the one and only in Thailand.
Feed the elephants herb ‘n’ fruit balls, bananas, and sugar cane, Help with elephant poo paper production, Get info on herbal treatments
Walk in the nature garden, and make herb ‘n’ fruit nutritional vitamin balls—the elephants love them!.
Walk with your elephant to the waterfall for a bath
Say goodbye to the elephant, shower and Change your clothes
Lunch at Local Restaurant
After that, Drive up to visit Doi Suthep Temple – One of five Royal Temples in Chiang Mai, It is not only an important and holy temple but also famous tourist area. This is Chiang Mai’s most important and most visible landmark
Return to your hotel 16.00-16.30 pm.
