Overview:

Art in Paradise, Chiang Mai, is an interactive 3D art museum that offers a unique and immersive experience for visitors of all ages. Unlike traditional art galleries, this museum invites guests to become a part of the artwork itself. The exhibits are designed to create optical illusions, making it appear as though you are stepping into the scenes. Visitors can walk through various themed rooms, from underwater adventures to ancient Egypt, and pose creatively to become one with the art. This hands-on approach to art makes it an enjoyable and engaging activity, perfect for families, friends, and art enthusiasts looking for a fun and memorable experience in Chiang Mai.

Sankhampaeng Home Industry Area

Just outside of Chiang Mai lies Borsang San Kampaeng, locally known as ‘Umbrella Village,’ home to the renowned Home Industry Centre. Here, exquisite Thai artifacts are crafted, including beautifully painted silk umbrellas. A short distance down the road, you’ll find The Gems Gallery, which boasts an impressive display of jewels and precious metals from around the world. The gallery features a small factory workshop where you can watch skilled craftsmen transform mined ore and stones into stunning masterpieces.

Visitors can observe the creation of famous local handicrafts such as Thai silk, wood carving, silverware, lacquerware, and the village’s most celebrated specialty: umbrella making.

Umbrellas – The village’s signature umbrellas are made from Sa paper, derived from the bark of the mulberry tree, showcasing the unique craftsmanship of the area.

Silverware – Renowned for its exquisite quality, the finest Thai silverware is crafted in Chiang Mai. Each piece contains at least 92.5% pure silver, resulting in bowls, receptacles, and decorative items of authentic value.

Lacquerware – Characterized by striking black and gold designs, lacquerware enhances wood, bamboo, metal, paper, and clay items, turning them into beautiful receptacles and decorative pieces.

Woodcarving – A traditional northern Thai art, woodcarving is prominently featured in many temples. The craft extends to furniture such as chairs, tables, and beds, as well as carved elephants, figurines, and other popular items.

Thai Silk – Enjoy fashionably designed garments tailored to your measurements from a large selection of traditional hand-woven Thai silk. These fabrics are known for their brilliant colors, soft texture, and high quality.
